APL Media is an award-winning travel and lifestyle agency specialising in multi-channel content for consumer and trade audiences. They produce a wide range of branded magazines, directories, digital magazines, and books.

The problem

APL have a growing team of over 80 people within a complex payment structure. Each person has a completely different contract based on working hours, commissions, targets, and bonuses. The process of correlating all this data was being managed within a spreadsheet that ran to 11 columns and was taking an extraordinary amount of time to process and output in time for pay day. For a time-sensitive business, which is fast-paced, and deadline driven, this way of working had become untenable.
